Donald Urquhart-Hay has enjoyed a diverse and distinguished medical career. From postgraduate surgical training in London he went on to pioneer kidney transplants in Wellington, New Zealand. He has been an examiner for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and a gold medallist in urology, president of the Wellington Medico-Legal Society, Aide-de-Camp to Governor-General Lord Porritt and Surgeon Commander for the Royal NZ Naval Volunteer Reserve. A Knight of the Order of St John, he is now an elected member of the Capital & Coast District Health Board.
