About the Author

Bob Rankin was born in Auckland in 1926, and had colourful schooldays & youthful adventures. After wartime navy training on HMNZS Tamaki, he became an interpreter with the Occupation Force in Japan after the Bomb.

He went on to become a teacher in Samoa in the 1950s and ‘60s, an outspoken journalist, and a businessman (commercial photographer, record producer, newspaperman, artist and screen-printer, soap maker and tropical fruit wine and liqueur maker), Bob is now retired in Samoa, as spirited and controversial as ever.
